After a successful 11 years in business, Accord Engineering graduated from the Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a) Business Development Program on April 9, 2011. As an 8(a) program participant, Accord Engineering received business development assistance from the SBA and other government agencies on a range of different levels. One key benefit was the opportunity to receive "sole-source" contracts and to bid for "set-aside" contracts. Accord Engineering was awarded approximately $23,000,000 in sole-source contracts and $9,000,0000 in set-aside contracts from 2002 to 2011. Another business advantage of the 8(a) program was the opportunity to form joint venture entities with other large companies under a Mentor Protégé (MP) agreement and also the opportunity to pursue large contracts. SBA approved a MP between Accord Engineering and MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc. in 2008. The two firms formed three Joint Ventures and successfully won four contracts with a total contract value over $47,000,000. This is one of the most successful MP programs in the SBA Santa Ana District. Accord Engineering is grateful and fortunate to have been part of the 8(a) Business Development program that has enabled us to grow our competitive and institutional know-how. Today, Accord Engineering has more than 30 employees and two offices serving our clients nationwide. We have become one of the name-recognized services provided in the Southern California area and will continue to grow. We also want to share our successful experience with  other  emerging  8(a)  firms  that  share  our  same  vision,  character,  and value.
